How we got your data, and how to remove it
Where our information comes from
We build a picture of creative businesses in Southampton from public sources:
- The ICO's register of fee payers — a public register of organisations that handle personal data, published under the Open Government Licence.
- Companies House — the public register of UK companies.
- The ONS Postcode Directory — to work out which council area a postcode is in.
- Google Business Profiles — business listings people have published themselves.
- Public websites — we visit business websites with an identified crawler that respects robots.txt. More about our crawler.
- People telling us directly — QR codes at libraries, studios and markets.
Every listing shows which of these each fact came from and when we collected it. We don't buy contact lists, and we don't sell yours.
What we do with it
We publish a free local directory, and we tell people about funding they're eligible for in their council area. We rely on legitimate interests for the directory; we only send marketing email to people who have asked for it.
